Rain, Rain

We didn't sing, but only because we didn't think of it. We did go for a nice walk in the rain at the Fells. I took Tucker with us, thinking that we wouldn't meet any other dogs in the woods. We met 8 dogs in under 45 minutes. What is it about the rain? Everything went fine with Tucker and the other dogs, so that was good. Joshua's hands were cold, so Sam tucked them in her pockets and they walked together sideways. Very adorable. I pointed out some puddles for them and they splashed mightily. Tucker looked on in horror. Don't you realize you'll get wet? he was clearly thinking. Tucker used to not care about rain, but he is an older and more pampered dog. Sam got into some dry clothes when we got back in the car and broke out the refreshments, like hot chocolate. Yum! Only a little bit got spilled on my freshly shampooed car, and the spill was quickly cleaned up. Oh well.

Here's to all of you having as much fun today as we have had. Joshua is off with Marie and Sam and I are going school shopping. She will be in Suzanne Trottier's class next year. We are off to get her supplies and some long sleeve shirts for her. Samantha has grown like a weed this summer.

Oh, yesterday Joshua had the heaves for a couple of hours. Samantha made an adorable get well card for him and bought him a balloon. Aww. I'll see if I can get Matt to scan it into the computer so I can add it to the blog.

It did not happen!

We have a hard time getting the kids to sleep in their own beds, so Marie tries extra hard to have the kids sleep in their own beds when we have date night, as an extra treat for us. She got a little carried aways last Thursday, I think. You be the judge. Samantha wanted to sing lullabies and read to Joshua in our big bed. Marie said 'no! The bed had pee in it, Ella peed all over it, very stinky, you don't want to go in the bed." Samantha says no, it was me that peed on the bed (she didn't) Marie closes our bedroom door and tells them to go in their rooms so they don't smell the stinky bed that Mommy peed in. Well! That just goes too far! :-) I have expected to hear all about that on Friday, but neither said a word. Marie said they laughed pretty hard at the thought of Mommy peeing the bed, and they went to be very nicely IN THEIR OWN BEDS! ALL NIGHT LONG!!! I say, she is a genius. I just want to be very clear. I did Not pee in the bed, no matter what they tell you.

Strep

We can't leave streptococcus behind. It went rampant through Stratton, and this summer, Samantha had it and now Joshua has it. I had him checked last Monday, because I just had a feeling it would be a good thing. Yep, sure enough. Strep, strain G. He has been on amoxicillin since last Monday. He has been good about taking it.

Samantha made breakfast for Joshua this morning, even letting him frost his own strudel, something she dearly loves to do.

Writing

Joshua wrote his name in the sand at Nahant Beach with Marie today.

Josh and classes. NOT

I tried taking Josh to his swim class this morning. He said he really wanted to take lessons. That is what he said. So I took him last week, with me in bathing suit ready to go in with him. No go. Screaming, crying, nothing doing is he going to touch that water. Soon as the class is over, he is playing and having a great time - IN THE WATER! He is almost swimming when he is not in class. So, Marie took him. Didn't work for her either, despite her copious amount of nanny magic. So I try again this morning. He clung to me like a burr, screamed his head off, and I lost my temper, gave up and walked off the beach with josh hanging onto my shirt screaming that he will not touch the water. Can Moms go on strike? I don't know why it makes me so mad. He will learn when he wants to. I just am tired of spending money, time and effort to get him to a class and not getting anywhere. I enrolled him a year and a half ago in gymnastics. Same thing. Would not participate. So I waited and enrolled him in swimming. Still, no go. He participates in pre-school beautifully. ARGH!
