Early Release Day
Samantha got out at 12:30 today, so Angelika and I took our brood on an outing. We went to Walden Pond on this gorgeous yet slightly brisk Fall day. Samantha, Joshua, Oliver and Amelie piled up acorns inside a pile of sand and buried them. Samantha, being Samantha, went swimming. There were many people swimming there, most over the age of 70, at least, but Samantha just wanted to get wet. And boy did she get wet. Did I have a change of clothes in the car? No. Should I know better by now that Samantha always needs a change of clothing after an outing near dirt? Yes. She had a great time and we took them all for a treat and hot cocoa at Nashoba Brook Bakery right after, so no harm done. I took pictures of them behind the bakery near the river. Throwing rocks into the river seems to be a timeless amusement for children. I wish I could understand why Samantha is drawn to going into the water even when it is very cold. All the other swimmers (and there were about ten this afternoon) wore rubber suits. That's my girl!

She will probably be one of those winter time swimmers, Amy. \(*_*)/
Very refreshing. I like the cold water, too, but not when it is very cold. That saps all your energy and you can't breath. Not good to do. I tried that once, too. Only once.
Sounds like a fun day.
Love,
Mom
