Spy Pond
We took Samantha's new fishing pole to Spy Pond today. I put a worm on the hook, completely fascinating Sam and about 4 other children standing there. I don't think they had ever seen anyone do that before. One young boy, a couple of years older than Sam, borrowed the pole from me (I only took it after Sam got tired. I promise!) and tried casting for a bit. The wind was blowing right into us, so even the great casts didn't go out more than 20 feet or so. Both Samantha and this young man had some great casts out from the shore. Of course, when I did it, my hook got stuck and I had to wade out in my sneakers into the water. Shocked the kids with that even more than with the worm. I feel so young!
It was a lovely day out, and even without catching a fish, or even a nibble, it was a lovely day. Joshua rode his big wheel around. He was a tired, very tired little boy at bed time.

Some things never change, Amy--wet feet, I mean. Sounds like you all had a very good time, and I am happy for you.
Love, Mom
Wet feet. Mud, saving worms. Sam wants to save the worms, but I have to do it for her. I don't think that is quite the same.
