Stitches

Wel,, Samantha does want to learn to sew, but we are talking skin stitches, not cloth. Samantha somehow got cut today during clothespin tag. The kids run around and take clothespins from the back of the other kids shirts and try to keep anyone else from taking theirs. Somehow Sam manages to get cut from a dull wooden clothespin and ends up in the emergency room getting two stitches. Did I mention she doesn't like needles anymore? After last year's hospital swine flu experience, Sam is very unhappy about needles, and today she cried and howled during the whole thing. She was very unhappy. The doctor was pretty careful and the stitches look good. We got some hot chocolate from Whole Foods after and I got her a new Wii game to play. I still can't believe that she ended up needing stitches from such a small cut. Poor Sam. The doctor explained that the cut was located in a place that gets alot of pulling and twisting (the web between thumb and forefinger) so only stitches would be able to hold it together so it would heal properly. Now we put bacitracin on for a few days and keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Josh is a flirt. A real, honest to goodness, full out flirt. He gets this from Matt. :-) He winked at the cheerleading coach, a very sweet and beautiful high school girl, and he dragged around a little girl a year younger than him yesterday and hugged and kissed her and made sure she was safe the whole afternoon. He just took her under his wing and showed her the big boy ropes. Today he tells his nanny she is beautiful. I think we have trouble on our hands with a capital T. He is a sweetheart too, except to his sister. He takes the horrible little brother role a little too seriously.

Busy? Heck yeh!

Let's see. WHat is Samantha doing lately?

Horse back riding, once a week

Bike riding on her new bike since her Mom lost the first one. You have never seen a child so grateful to have her bike stolen. SHe really likes her new bike.

Math Club at school to do more intricate math problems

Violin group lessons. She also has to practice 20 minutes a day

acting classes with a play at the end of the 8 sessions

Last but most definitely not least, Cheerleading. Practice is Monday and Wednesday nights from 6-7:30 pm. Plus a game at 8am every Sunday from the beginning of October to the end of November. During August it was two hours a night, Monday through Thursday. She really likes it, though, so she can do it as long as she wants to. She is disappointed she has had to miss two riding lessons. Matt gets up to make her breakfast, and I take her to the actual game.

Oh, and Girls Scouts, Brownie, to be precise, once a month. I hope she is enjoying all this. Violin just started but she is absolutely thrilled with it, and Acting class starts tomorrow. I am tired just telling you about all this!
