Tractor

Joshua is a neat little fellow. He likes to line things up in a very straight line, and he will actually pick up every last ball that he threw on the floor. He wipes his chin and is known to *ask* for a napkin. My fellow mothers of three year olds can pull their chin back into their mouths now. I have marveled at this and at the same time said, yep, he is your son, Matt. I have wondered how much, if any of me was in there. Well, it comes out when we play Farmville on Facebook. Mom, can I have a tractor? The pink tractor. Well, you have three already. Yes, those are pink and red but I want the cool boy tractor (there is a different tractor with flames painted on it.) He wants four tractors because three isn't enough. Yep, he is a Dupuis boy in there too.

Sam has her 8th birthday coming up this Sunday. We are taking her and a couple of friends to the Chocolate Bar at the Langham Hotel in Boston. Very fancy, utterly delicious. I hope they like it. Who wouldn't like chocolate?

Tubing

We got Samantha's cough settled. Turns out that children who had a bad case of swine flu with pneumonia often need to use an inhaler for a few months after during the cold to help them breath. So we just give Sam a puff of albuterol and we are off. She is doing great now. She should be all better by the summer. The Stratton fifth grade did a fundraiser for their class trip by selling group tickets to go tubing at Nashoba Valley ski area. Sam and I went on the 12th, last Tuesday. It was a blast. I thought i was going to throw up after the first trip down, we went so fast, but I tried it again and it grew on me. You go very fast down the hill, and there is a rope pulley to pull you up the hill on the inner tube. Really fun. We lost each other on the mountain for a bit and had a tearful reunion towards the end, but it was still an amazing day. We will definitely do this again.

Joshua spent the afternoon with Marie at the Childrens Museum. I think he had fun too. He picked up his cell phone, an old one of Carolyn's, and dialed Marie. He had a whole conversation with Marie on his end. "hello! I just wanted to know what you are doing. I love you. I miss you! Are you having fun? I want to play with you, Marie." Makes my heart melt. So I called Marie this evening to tell Marie about the conversation so she could actually hear it. She loved it too. Marie, for those who live farther away, is our nanny. She watches Joshua on Wednesdays and on Monday afternoons.

We walked the dogs this afternoon, which mostly involves fighting about who gets to hold Ella's leash, then me walking Ella most of the way. We dropped off Darcy's invitation for Samantha's birthday party in the one post box nearby and came home. I enjoyed seeing Grammy's bright red mittens on Samantha and Joshua. We love those mittens, Grammy!

Samantha told me today that I was a bad mom.
I chuckled and said, that is not what you said yesterday. You think I am not listening, but I heard you! You told me I was kind and the best mom in the whole world.
She got a small smile, which was what I was aiming for, and said, no I didn't say that. Not me!
Amy: Yes, you did, Samantha! And what did I say back do you remember? Was it, perhaps, something like you are the best daughter in the world?
Now she is really fighting a giggle. Shakes her head no: You would never say that to me! Egging me on to say it again, so
Amy: Yes I did! I said you are the best daughter in the world. and I say it now, I wanted you and I got you!
Sam: no you didn't, you wanted a son.
Mom:nope, I wanted perfect, wonderful you, and I got you!

Crabbiness averted. for now. Then I got crabby because I had to clean up after Tucker threw up some seriously disgusting stuff that I will not describe any further and I was back to doing damage control of my own creation. I hate being human and making mistakes.
